On the Menu

The P.3s were learning to read and write restaurant menus. Their Chinese New Year holiday task was to visit a restaurant with their family, observe the restaurant menu and to take photos of 2 dishes that they liked.

After the holidays they presented their photos to their classmates and did a categorization activity. They had to stick their photos under the different categories of Starters, Mains, Desserts or Drinks.

Students worked in groups to write a restaurant role play script.

With the help of the Visual Arts teachers, we were able to make this unit of work into a cross-curricular activity. Students made food and drinks items out of clay in their Visual Arts lesson. They were encouraged to use these clay food items as props for their restaurant role plays.

Their creativity never ceases to amaze me.
Stay tuned for more photos of the restaurant role plays!
