Welcome to the Year of the Rabbit!

Last week I taught the P.1 students about "Hui Chun". These are lucky messages written on red rectangular paper. The messages are usually four Chinese words long and people like to hang these around their homes to bring good luck.

The lesson was as much a Chinese lesson for me as it was an English lesson for the kids. They had to teach me to read the messages written on the Chinese Hui Chun while I taught them to read the English translation. I think the students found my Chinese pronunciation rather amusing :P

Here are some 'Hui Chun' written by students:

Here's wishing you all a very happy Chinese New Year! Have a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. Keep safe and warm. See you after the holidays!

Excursion Booklet Cover Design

I've been planning to take my P.3 kids to the Peak for an English excursion in March. They will have the chance to interview tourists and do an orientation activity inside the Peak Tower. It's going to be fun!

I have made an excursion booklet for the students and I finally received the printed copies on my desk this morning! Several students were selected by teachers to enter a booklet cover design competition.

Congratulations to the following designers! Your artwork has been printed on the cover of the excursion booklets for your class.
Matthew Fung of 3A

Clement Siu of 3B

Oscar Chan of 3C

Justin Lam of 3D

Alpha Yiu and Beta Yiu of 3E
I hope this excursion will be a most memorable learning experience for my students!

P.2 students please be reminded that you will have your Oral Assessment this week. I will be coming into your classrooms to listen to you read aloud a passage from "The Tortoise Who Talked too Much."

Please practice reading the passage at home. High marks will be given to students with good pronunciation, tone and expressions.
